      If you’re wondering what those circles are on the arrivals – those are called stacks. And they change depending on if it’s easterlies or westerlies (direction of take off and landing). It’s how they in Terminal control (based in a different control centre to the Heathrow tower) get the aircraft all to line up nicely.

      I reckon one of the great pleasures of landing at LHR is seeing all the central sights of London when you travel westward down the Thames. I reckon it’s one of the most interesting approaches in the world.
