    1. This charade is very tiresome. Trump doesn’t want a peacekeeping plan, he wants to hand Ukraine over to Russia. He’s not even pretending otherwise.

    2. Tasty-Explanation503 on

Maybe we should say fuck it and just launch a nuke at Russia and be done with it all, why spend so much of our own time worrying about it at this point.

From all of this, however long it takes to get to the outcome. Anything less than the liberation of Ukraine wholly including Crimea is a failure. Russia has been allowed for far to long to project itself on Europe and its allies.

    4. Available_Monitor_92 on

Why present it to trump? Present it to Ukraine. Trump has nothing more to say other than telling Ukraine to surrender.

    5. Acceptable-Pin2939 on

This is the only solution that creates a lasting peace, it’s in no way ideal. As Ukraine shouldn’t have to give up any land.

Putin will never accept it, but it has to be offered first as this is what’s called diplomacy.

Trump is a playground bully, and he will put Starmer’s head in the PR toilet after Putin has pissed on him then flush.

    7. Aggravating-Curve755 on

      Seriously, what’s the point?

You can’t reason with Putin, Kim Jong, Hitler and so on

    8. come on starmer, the USA have basically allied itself with Russia why the fuck are you running to Trump for approval.

    9. god those comments on the telegraph are awful, people seriously calling starmer a marxist prime minister. I don’t think people under the damage the right wing press and social media are doing to humanity, how do we even go forward from here ?

    10. And Russia has said it’ll be unacceptable to have peacekeepers there, so it’s a non-starter.

This is hot air. Why doesn’t Starmer focus on increasing defence spending and expanding our own army?

    11. Anyone who thinks the fucking **Telegraph** have been able to scoop a **Labour** government plan needs their fucking heads examined.

This is a right-wing shit rag, making shit up, like they all do.

    12. Please for the love of god starmer just distance yourself from this Russian dictator. And I don’t mean Putin.

    13. Don’t bother.. America is out, and frankly with this administration we shouldn’t do business of any kind!

    14. Unsure why we need to speak with America.

Why can’t we do this off our own back , then when it becomes a problem for the USA, you start the talks.

    15. This feels like a non-starter. Trump has made it pretty clear he doesn’t care about Ukraine’s security. Why would he commit US firepower to back up a European peacekeeping force?

    16. Estimated-Delivery on

Putin will not allow a single soldier, peace keeper or not, to be involved. As others have identified, since it’s Trumps plan to annex a large part of Ukraine (for a period as agreed with Putin) for the extraction of ‘Rare Earth’ then neither does he.

    17. Hypothetically speaking could some nato members not make some of their armed forces redundant. Then the next day by a stroke of luck the Ukrainian army have some vacancies and recruit them all. Technically still no NATO troops in Ukraine.

    18. Why are Italy, Spain and particularly Germany in opposition to adding their own forces in to the peacekeeping effort? Germany is as much to blame as anyone for emboldening Putin over decades.

If British and French troops are going to be deployed, the coward nations within Europe should pay for it.

One of the key reasons Second World War wasn’t averted was a failure in diplomacy. Proud to see the UK and Starmer take a leading role in this

    20. I think any deal should include supplying Ukraine with millions of artillery shells, anti aircraft units, drone parts, anti personnel mines and anti tank mines (in never before seen volumes). That way, the border is defended even if no troops are in harms way.

    21. World has changed. Countries have nuclear weapon. Democratic approach fails where power seizes influence. Crisis of capitalism

    22. Deluded. Russia has just said no chance so it’s off the table.

Will have to be a UN Force on non NATO countries.

Digressing a bit, Russian forces tasted defeat in Afghanistan as did the coalition of Western forces, American forces despite their alleged supurity have suffered a few since the end of WWII.

So, back to Ukraine Vs Russia matter, the accommodating of the unstable ramblings of Trump in matters to do with the security and peace in Europe should be curtailed promptly. The fact that Trump opens his mouth before engaging his brain is a fault that will cost more loss of life in the matter.

Europe needs to come together on the matter, and the enabling of Putin to move back to Russia’s borders will take more than political word salad short of a full blown war.

    24. Why bother with the pretence anymore. The special relationship is long since done, no need to keep Trump in the loop.

When I was a kid in British schools we were taught to stand up to bullies. The USA is a bully.

The time has come for Europe to stop pussy footing around and intervene directly. Russia has been interfering in elections, launching cyber attacks, sabotaging infrastructure and murdering dissidents on European soil for the best part of two decades. WW3 began when their tanks rolled across the border into Ukraine, Russia isn’t yet strong enough to invade further but thanks to the traitorous americans that will soon change. The only thing that will stop Putin, other than a bullet to the back of the head is military intervention.

One of the major issues for Ukraine is airpower, they are massively outgunned in the air, European forces have the ability to change that.
