National Girls and Women in Sports event at the University of Arkansas
Earlier today, the University of Arkansas Women’s Sports Student Athletic Department held a free clinic for girls ages five to 12 to celebrate national girls and women in sports day!The event is a way for younger athletes to see a day in the life of collegiate athletes, with several sports represented at different stations throughout the gymnasium.”I think it’s important because like a lot of females, like aren’t represented as much as they should be like in athletics. And so to show them like they have girls to look up to and that we can give back to them,” said Romani Thurman, Razorback volleyball player. “Give them a vision and give them goals and continue to push them to want to the best.”American tennis player, Billie Jean King, founded the women’s sports foundation in 19-74 to help girls and women participate in sports at all levels.
