BRADENTON, Fla. — The Pittsburgh Pirates downed the Minnesota Twins, 5-1 on Sunday to start the 2025 exhibition season at 2-0.

Mitch Keller started for the Pirates and threw two scoreless innings, and Caleb Ferguson fired two scoreless innings in his Pirates debut.

Ke’Bryan Hayes singled in his first at bat of the spring, and Termarr Johnson belted a run-scoring single in the Pirates’ four-run seventh inning.

On Saturday, the Pirates opened spring play in Sarasota, Fla., by beating the Baltimore Orioles, 10-5, behind a big day from Matt Gorski.

Gorski hit a grand slam in the ninth inning after breaking a 3-3 tie in the sixth with a two-run, pinch-hit homer.

Henry Davis doubled in his first at bat, and Endy Rodriguez reached base safely in each of his three plate appearances.

Non-roster invitee Nick Solak went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, and starter Carmen Mlodzinski allowed two runs in two innings of work.

Paul Skenes is expected to make his spring debut on the mound today in Clearwater, Fla., against the Philadelphia Phillies.
