So the argument for the last 3 years has been that these prices are driven by international markets? Why then is the rest of the world so much cheaper for energy?
Anyone ready to actually do something about it yet? Or we all enjoying getting fleeced by paying the most for energy in the world

If only there was a regulator with the power to control prices.

Where are the fucking unit rates in this article? Why are they missing from almost every piece in this topic?

Got to love the idea of the ‘cap’, that just rises seemingly randomly every few months. Wish my wages were capped like the energy prices.
No wonder we’re seeing inflation rise again, no doubt it’ll be up again in the next update.

Time to reform the energy market. The current pricing system is clearly broken as it take the most expensive (Gas) energy source as the baseline for all other producers..

A lot of houses in my estate are now all getting solar panels and a battery am starting to think it would be worth the investment.

Such a surprise……
Really is about time Brits pulled their finger put and actually stood up against this crap.

Biggest question for me is what difference renewables are making to our energy bills. This must not be making any meaningful difference to price if the cap keeps going up.

Better get a quick boost for the profits before the Ukraine excuse runs out.

I know it’s not much consolation, but I’d urge everyone to check whether there are any suitable fixed deals available now, to cover these latest rises.
The supplier we use (Octopus) emailed us stating they were offering fixes at lower rates than the cap with no exit fees (in case the cap miraculously goes down) as they were able to buy their energy at today’s prices and therefore could offer a fix. I imagine some of the other large suppliers are similar. I know that personally ive got so used to being on variable rates that ive not been looking for fixed deals as often.

Absolute bollocks, the whole situation. I feel absolutely powerless (no pun intended) about this thing. Like we as a nation are just expected to roll over and accept this. It’s grossly unfair.
Something needs to change.

Cool. Along with water increases, council tax increases, rent increases, food increases, car insurance increases, fuel increases…
The cost of living is genuinely insane, it’s like everything goes up in price every couple of months now.

I do wonder how long the people of this country can keep getting squeezed like this before something breaks.

Literally everyone I know is stressed out by the cost of living increase at the moment. I don’t see this greed ending without a form of collapse or revolution.

My energy bill for a 4BR + 1EV was £586 this month. House is always 20-21C not higher. Not sure how higher I can go.

Great news!!!!
If you’re a shareholder in an energy company.

Didn’t labour promise under their manifesto energy would drop?
So to work out how much it will cost you, don’t take the headline figure as you’re unlikely to be an “average household” and instead work out 6% of your current bill.

We need to just refuse to pay. They don’t have the police to lock up thieves in Greggs so they won’t do anything.
