The Turkish Havelsan’s “digital soldier” system aims to increase operational integrity through equipping the infantry teams with wearable high-tech apparatus – such as sniper detection system, health sensors, and speech recognition system. It is supposed to reinforce the ground operations by mini drones that will maintain instant communication with the ground troops, enhancing soldier safety.
I swear these kinds of programs come up every once in a while (Land Warrior, etc.) before quietly fading into the background once it becomes obvious that equipping soldiers with a bunch of heavy, cumbersome, yet delicate and temperamental electronics in addition to everything else they have to carry isn’t really worthwhile.
