    1. I saw a snapshot of their conversation and my god what contrast to yesterday. Zelenskyy looked so much more at ease. So proud of my country today.

I think this will be marked as a genuine moment in history like yesterday.

    2. Its going to be very interesting to see what the EU and the UK can actually offer Zelensky at this point.

I kind of hope the relationship between the UK and USA starts going downhill, won’t be good for anyone but that might open some
      Maga eyes

Well done Mr Starmer and the UK. Decency, support and a warm welcome. From an Irish and fellow European neighbour👍.

    5. Was this pre-planned, or has it been hastily arranged as a rebuttal to trump and vance behaving so appallingly?

What is this feeling I’m experiencing? Could it be…. Pride for my country? Proud of our Prime Minister and government? Proud to be British?! I like it!!

Such a contrast to yesterday’s absolutely abhorrent display. Literally makes me sick just thinking about those ghouls and how they spoke to Zelensky. Imagine asking him why he didn’t wear a suit. Just absolutely disgusting.

Zelenskyy’s statement about the aftermath of the Oval Office is so classy. The leader of a people who know real hardship and know how to maintain their dignity. Trump and Vance’s behavior yesterday look even more despicable. I’ll never stand with an America led by animals like those two.

Get that man a pint asap. Honestly the Americans have officially lost the plot.

    9. The humiliating treatment of Zelensky, gives a chance for everyone to see how Trump treats his friends.

A great rallying cry to Europe politicians who can gain support locally by standing up to Trump and standing with Zelensky. One can hope.

I am so happy this has happened, it makes me glad we have Kier Starmer in, can you imagine the conservatives doing this? I can’t

    11. We have to unequivocally back this man and continue doing so come what may. Fuck trump.

    12. For all of the issues with Starmer and his government, it must be refreshing just to speak to an actual adult who speaks to you like an equal.

Just watched it, and made me a bit teary. That’s how world leaders should be. What a contrast.

    14. Starmer has had a bit of a hit and miss start, but he’s done really well recently on the international issues, feels like an area he can really gain popularity with from all parts of the British electorate.

    15. Personally I think the US are intentionally screwing the peace process at the request of Russia, so the Russians can keep fighting. They will say we gave peace a chance, but Zelenskyy didn’t want it. The US, will stop giving aid, because he disrespected the US and wants to keep fighting! So Ukraine will be left without the supplies it needs as Europe can’t fill the gap and Russia will slowly be able to finish the job they started!

    16. And that’s how it’s done – Proud to be British today. Our PM really is doing a great job, very relieved it’s him in power and not the previous government.

    17. God, the fucking journo… ”WHAT’S YOUR MESSAGE TO DONALD TRUMP?!”…

    18. “Trump showdown” ? What sort of pathetic weak wording is that. It was a trump prickend ambush by him and his little prickend of a sidekick that everyone would love to batter. Use those words instead

I like to imagine that when Starmer’s saying something to him and gesturing towards the journalists, he’s saying “Sorry about them, they’re a right bunch of wankers, just smile and ignore them”

    20. I’m so happy the Prime Minister seems to be taking good care of him so far. From what I read, it’s going well!

Haven’t felt proud of being British for quite some time. Nice to feel proud for once.

    22. There have been very, very few moments over the last few years where I’ve felt proud of my country, but today was certainly one of them. Keir’s played a blinder here.

    23. OrdinaryOwl-1866 on

For the first time in perhaps a decade I feel proud to be British today. Proud of the PM and proud to be standing on the right side of history

Yesterday’s behaviour by Trump towards Zelenskyy was disgusting. Blackmail towards a country blatantly under attack by Russian aggression. Rambling references to how Trump has been falsely accused while he is a committed felon. Ignorance of basic facts. No interest except to profit from the situation without any promise to support normal humanitarian beliefs. Trump is an utter disgrace. He needs to be isolated or removed from his position immediately.

Very happy with how the UK has dealt with this, cross party, since Johnson.

Some sense. Amongst all the shit going on right now.

I thought this wrote Zelensky embarrassed by starmer at first

I bet it was a sigh of relief to be with someone you know is actually an ally, and an adult, capable of intelligent conversation

      Superb move.
      Big win for Ukraine.
      Big L for Russia.
Costs the UK little to nothing.

In one of the updates, a citizen in Kyiv:

      >An 87-year-old woman says US President Donald Trump treated Zelensky “very disrespectfully”.
      >
      >”He has always expressed gratitude to the American people. He has always stood with the American people. He is a decent person,” she says.
      >
      >She goes on to say that four of her relatives have been killed in the war.
      >
      >”My nephews and my grandson are on the front line. I do not believe we will surrender,” she adds. **”I am 87 years old. If they are no longer there, then I will go to the trenches myself.”**

…’kinell, babushka (pls correct if Ukrainians use a different word) not playing around.

*That* is why VZ won’t surrender (other than all the other logical reasons), will of the people is clearly to keep going.
