  1. Hi r/space,

We thought members of this community may be interested in our latest story. **Here’s a brief excerpt**:

    >A high-ranking NASA official warned his employees Friday to “use discretion” in public when displaying badges or emblems that identify them as federal workers — part of an effort, the agency says, to protect its employees amid “stories of possible harassment” outside of work.

    >“We are all very proud to work for the space program,” wrote Dr. James Polk, NASA’s chief health and medical officer. “But in the current environment, with a lot of negative rhetoric coming in our direction, I want you all to please use caution.”

Ad astra, and thanks for your time.

If I was a NASA employee I’d wear the badge and punch the first person to say something right in their fat mouth

  3. Pathetic! Of all the institutions that actually work together from all their locations, NASA should not have to fear this bullshit! This is the most obscene thing I have read since yesterday!

  4. There probably isn’t a single government agency that has employees more proud to work there than NASA. It’s ridiculous that anybody would give them any crap.

  5. Looks like I am wearing my NASA shit everywhere. I look forward to idiots revealing themselves.

In the past weeks, our nation’s top leaders have said federal employees are members of the “parasite class” who aren’t doing their jobs and don’t deserve paychecks. NASA employees getting beat up in public is a direct result of this rhetoric

  7. I was walking down a street in Virginia wearing a NASA t-shirt when some dude with a deeply southern accent yelled at me “nayysuhhhs uh skaayuhhmmm!” (NASA’s a scam). I didn’t know what to say so I just chuckled and kept walking.

This was like 2 years ago, too.

I just want to share my opinion that ‘patriotism’ is cult of state.

Stupid since nasa is a super popular program
and iconic BRAND that people actively wear
Tshirts of because it’s so cool

    > amid “stories of possible harassment” outside of work.

    > “Our managers are hearing information thirdhand and using this as an opportunity to remind our teams to be mindful of their surroundings and to report any incidences to the Office of Protective Services,” she said.

    **Stories** of **possible** harassment.

So a story of one employee being harassed at a Starbuck’s — for which details are sketchy — has turned into *this*.

Jesus Christ, the hysteria knows no bounds.

  12. Its crazy when Interstellar came out I couldn’t believe a future where NASA would go underground; but now that seems almost optimistic
