Rochester, N.Y. — The Rochester Friendship Festival, a hockey event dedicated to athletes with developmental disabilities, took place this weekend at Tim Horton’s IcePlex.
The annual festival, hosted by the Rochester Ice Cats, welcomed over 325 athletes from 18 teams, alongside coaches and fans, from across the northeast and Canada.
The teams, all members of the American Special Hockey Association, gathered for a weekend of competition and camaraderie.
The festival’s mission is to provide training in ice hockey for individuals with developmental disabilities, offering an inclusive environment for athletes of all ages to showcase their skills and enjoy the sport.
