Is there anything more beautiful than the fuzzy glow of the atmosphere clinging to the edge of Earth’s silhouette in these pictures of home taken from space?

If you zoom in on the image at about 1 o’clock there’s something that looks like a impact or blast zone with rays radiating to the left. It looks like either a high-angle impact crater, or possibly the result of an atomic weapons test? Does anyone know what this is?
