I showed my nephew a picture—our entire universe in one frame. And BOOM! He went crazy "This is the whole universe?! Like… everything?!"
At that moment, he decided—he's going to be an Engineer plus Astronaut! 🚀✨ Now, it's all about space talks, rocket sketches, and planning a trip to Pluto. One picture changed his whole world! 🌍🚀💫

Imagine you put the universe into a tube, you would end up with a very long tube…
I know this is just a fictional picture, however, why the very vast space is always pictured in red, like being in flames?
Is that a reference of Infrared due to huge distances?
I dont understand why it had to compressed as its not real pic unlike the andromeda galaxy one
Well, the observable universe, so not infinity 🙂
Truly mind boggling. If I could donate my mind to science and put it in some robot to help launched out there for an eternity, I would. I want to know what’s out there. To see those sights.
Looks more like our immediate galactic neighbourhood <100ly
worth noting this image is logarithmic in both its distance and zoom, the further up on the image you go the greater the distance(and thus age) but also more zoomed out it is
at the top of the image it becomes more red because earlier in the universe everything was more compressed and thus hotter, it forms those web patterns due to tiny quantum ripples from the start of the universe being expanded out to immense scales then further defined by gravity pulling closer parts into clumps and making the empty spots more empty
the original artist is pablo carlos budassi, not the redditor op credited
though fair warning the personal website for pablo budassi appears to contain a trojan
I hear if you keep zooming out you’ll see the giant koala that the universe rests on.
What does ‘unreachable’ refer to? Is this to represent how far we could theoretically go assuming we can travel at the speed of light? If so, would ‘beyond’ account for the expansion of the universe?
