I thought mental health didn’t exist and everyone was just faking it to get less than minimum wage from the government?

    2. I know it’s a serious issue but typos like that will always make me laugh.

I have yet to notice my Ham increasing from social media usage? I like Ham so surely Ham is good?

    4. Most social media has stopped using ham due to cost cutting. These days they usually use the cheap alternative Spam.

I didn’t know if I was just hungry or reading that right. Had to double back. I’d like more ham please.

my instagram used to be all models, the plastic kind. No, the little ones you paint.
Now it’s wall to wall pushed content. i’ve pretty much ditched it, it used to be really inspirational for me, now it’s depressing.
Anything Meta owned is like that tbh, i’ve entirely moved to platforms where I can control what content I can see.
none of this 3 people in your area looked at hateful shit, best push it to everyone in the area etc etc.

Can we just bring back Myspace?

You know what, i’m going to cook a ham this weekend.

Even if it does more harm than good, restricting it in law is an idiotic move, no less expected from government

    8. Yet we now hear that proposals to ban phones in schools are being watered down, effectively flipping the ‘ban now’ proposal to a ‘research more first’.

The safer phones bill has its second reading today and one of the subjects is around addictive social media algorithms. I’m hoping there’s some common sense applied to this and action is taken sooner, without some sort of ham fisted approach to the legislation…

Social media companies are the tobacco companies of our age. Pushing a product that they know is harmful and addictive because their profits are the most important thing.

    10. All of the social media apps on my mobile phone, are stored in a folder called Brain Cancer.

If we’re regulating social media I want more effort put on combating misinformation and breaking echo chambers

I’ve not seen any ham as a result of my addiction to social media, where can we claim it?

It depends what they class as harmful. Whilst we can all agree that social media has harmful content, censoring opinions on topics, as we’re seeing, is not the road we’d like to travel down .

Successive governments have been too chicken to do anything about it

Depends where you are, if it wasn’t for social media a lot of people wouldn’t see what is really going on in the world and their own country

This is coming from people that told me and many others that our mental health issues don’t exist, funny that. Stranger still, the government fails to get parents to take any responsibility for their kid’s social media habits and addictions.

It’s just curious because instead of raising their kids, most modern-day parents dump an iPad on their kid and expect that to be a babysitting tool, maybe we should hold parents accountable for this instead of entirely blaming social media. I’m not saying social media isn’t harmful, but I am saying it’s ironic that most people will do anything but look at themselves and think that they are part of the problem.

Heard a good one the other day: Set the alarm on your phone for a few hour’s time. Put it down and don’t pick it up again until the alarm goes off. In the meantime, get shit done.

The most scary thing, it’s got like half of the population including kids and teens thinking their mentally ill or have some sort of abnormality when really they just need to get off their phones and comparing themselves to others online – not saying it’s not a real thing there’s plenty of people who genuinely have mental illnesses but it’s became a trend. It’s dangerous people are getting put on meds they don’t even need. My son is like a different person since I allowed him to have social media. It’s sad.

    19. Yes, my 7 year old nephew was mucking about repeating “gyatt” and “nyash” over and over the other day. I’ve heard my brother’s kids say several nonsense words before (that Skibidi Toilet shit was the devil) but I guess it must be a trend on TikTok or Shitter because I’d never heard of them and never heard him say those words before. Then I found out what they meant. Then I found out that a new girl joined his class a few days ago and she’s African….

They are slang words about a black woman’s rear end in case you are wondering. I mean most of you probably knew that but I’m nearly 33 and just about ready for the Internet Nursing Home. When I told my brother he didn’t give a shit, said at least it proves he isn’t gay. I asked him if his young daughter started talking about BBC and didn’t meant the news channel, would he continue to let her on his phone? No answer.

Edit, wrong word, said his niece when she’s my niece lol.

Glad to see someone is getting to the meat of the matter. Zuckerberg has made a pig’s ear out of society. Meta keeps trying to bacon me back, but I gave FB the chop a while ago.
