CAA WOMEN’S BASKETBALL RECAP – MARCH 8
The regular season is officially in the books, with the seeding set for the 2025 Credit Union 1 CAA Women’s Basketball Championship.
Stony Brook 66, Drexel 59

Despite a late offensive surge from its opponents, Stony Brook (12-17, 7-11) held on to defeat Drexel (16-12, 12-6) 66-59.
Stony Brook held a 27-24 lead heading into halftime, padded by restricting the Dragons to just five points in the second quarter. Drexel bounced back to level the game at 45 with a bucket from Deja Evans midway through the fourth quarter. The Seawolves went on an 11-3 run immediately after to pull away from the Dragons. Zaida Gonzalez had five of her 19 points during the stretch to set Stony Brook up for the seven-point victory. Gonzalez (19), Breauna Ware (18), and Shamarla King (19) combined for 56 of Drexel’s 69 points. Evans paced the Dragons with a game-high 22 points.
Hofstra 69, Northeastern 53

A dominant first-half showing propelled Hofstra (14-15, 9-9) to a 69-53 victory over Northeastern (3-24, 2-16).
The Pride extended its win streak to four straight with a 16-point win over the Huskies. Hofstra poured in 39 in the first half as Ramatoulaye Keita notched a double-double in 20 minutes with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Eight of the Pride’s nine players to touch the court in the first half recorded points, contributing to a 43.2% shooting display from the field and 31.3% from deep. LaNae’ Corbett finished as Hofstra’s leading scorer with 16 off the bench, while Abigail Jegede’s 19 paced Northeastern.
Charleston 93, Hampton 66
Backed by 49 first-half points, Charleston (23-6, 14-4) defeated Hampton (7-22, 3-15) 93-66.
Charleston’s scoring form continued, outshooting the Pirates 49-33 through the first 20 minutes. Scoring on a .600 clip from the field, Taryn Barbot continued to be the hot hand posting 18 of her game-high 31 points in the first half. The Cougars best run of form came at the tail end of the second quarter with a 12-5 run. Barbot kickstarted the stretch with a second chance layup, before netting five of Charleston’s next 10 points and earning a 16-point lead at halftime. The Cougars finished the day with a .548 shooting clip from the field and scored at an impressive 95% from the free-throw line. Cece Thomas posted 17 points for the Pirates.
N.C. A&T 65, UNCW 54
North Carolina A&T (19-10, 15-3) pulled ahead in the third to post a 65-54 victory over UNCW (14-17, 8-10).
Tied at 30 heading into the second half, the Aggies offense started flowing with 3:30 minutes gone in the second. Maleia Bracone hit a three, kickstarting an 11-3 run for A&T, followed by Bracone’s second-chance jumper before Jordyn Dorsey scored four straight. Paris Locke capped off the run with a layup of her own before the Seahawks registered their first points in over four minutes from the charity stripe. UNCW scored the next four points, but it was Locke who came in clutch to extend the Aggies lead to five heading into the final 10 minutes. Dorsey posted her second-consecutive 20-point game with 23, while Taylor Henderson had 15 for UNCW.
Campbell 73, William & Mary 55

Campbell (19-11, 12-6) pulled out a 73-55 win over William & Mary (11-18, 8-10) to clinch the third seed heading into the tournament.
Jasmine Felton was a force, leading the Camels with a 16-point and 12-rebound double-double. Scoring on a .455 clip from the field and .385 from behind the arc, Campbell eclipsed its field goal-scoring percentage by almost 5% in the win and got eight or more points from six of its players. The Camels outrebounded the Tribe 35-27 contributing to 18 second-chance points for Campbell. Bella Nascimento led for the Tribe with 18 points.
Elon 70, Monmouth 54

Elon (15-14, 9-9) turned it around in the second half to win 70-54 over Monmouth (15-14, 10-8).
Monmouth’s Divine Dibula pulled the game to within three points notching a free throw with 7:34 on the clock. Both teams traded buckets for the next three minutes before Elon pieced together a 13-1 run. Jayda Angel had three straight for the Phoenix before Ava Leroux, Iycez Adams, and Kamryn Doty extended Elon’s lead to 68-53. Alexis Stewart stopped the Phoenix run with a free throw, but it wasn’t enough as Elon closed out the victory. Raven Preston’s 20 points paced Elon, while Damaris Rodriguez had a team-high 18 for Monmouth.
Towson 69, Delaware 59

Towson (10-19, 8-10) overcame a 13-point deficit to defeat Delaware ( 12-16, 9-9) 69-59.
Down 35-22 two minutes into the second half, Towson got it going heading into the final frame. India Johnston (6) and Anahiah Jenkins (7) gave the Tigers 13 of their 20 points in the third to cut Delaware’s lead down to 3. Khady Leye came out firing in the fourth scoring four in less than a minute to give Towson a one-point advantage. The Tigers didn’t let up, with a 10-3 stretch to extend its lead to eight, before closing out the game with six-straight free throws from Johnston. Anasia Staton posted a team-high 19 points for Towson while Delaware was led by 15 from Rebecca Demeke.
