I’m surprised Maryland is so low. I figured being tiny and close to DC would mean a ton of rich lawyers, politicians, and the like would live there, skewing the 1% way upwards.

  3. Whenever income is mentioned it needs to be specified if it is individual or household. Anyone know which this is?

Edit: individual specified in the color bar label. Silly not to include it in the explanatory blurb but at least it’s specified.

  4. Kentucky at $470k is baffling. Horse industry? Coal barons? There’s just not enough of those people

  5. Well, the calculator is broken as my income is below what it lists for the 97th percentile but it says I’m in the top 1%

Just remember, if you sell your home, you are in the top 1% for a least a year.

  10. Today, I confirmed, I am not in the top 1% of earners in my state. Which I already knew instinctively, because I have a job.
