Did a full write-up [here](https://www.cantgetmuchhigher.com/p/how-many-artists-did-the-beatles). The impetus for this question was if when The Beatles lauched the British Invasion in 1964 it killed more careers than average. TLDR: No. There’s a ton of turnover in most years.

That is _remarkably stable_ over time
What troubles me about this is that you are comparing a one-hit wonder from the 60’s who did nothing great for the next sixty years or so with an artist from (say) 2020 who did nothing great for the next five years. Is that a valid comparison?
