Proof some people really don’t make it past the fourth stage of Kohlberg’s moral development.

  2. The sad part is that gay marriage will be one of the next things challenge by the GOP, even though it has a majority support in every single demographic.

States rights my ass. It’ll just legalized discrimination and government sponsored hate.

  3. The 65+ demographic is intriguing.

Considering nobody ages out of that demographic, going from 39 to 62% required a lot of people flat out changing their mind.

It’s remarkable that people are willing to change their mind on something as fundamental to society as the definition of marriage. Yet it’d take an act of God to get people to question their choice of politicians nowadays.

As a European who lives in a slightly different societal composition compared to the American one, what I really find fascinating is that black people are dragging down numbers. Are black people, even the ones who’ve lived on the American soil for generations, in general more conservative than the average citizen?

  5. Non-college voters. the lowest of the low (-_Q). “Send it back to The States where it belongs” etc

  6. It’s crazy to me how quickly this changed.

This was the go-to wedge issue by certain folks in the US for years. And then it just evaporated, seemingly overnight.

so happy to the multiracial population included. it’s so rare that studies even think to include us

  8. Only ⅔ is surprising to me. What are some of the talking points of those against legalizing gay marriage?

Any hint as to why the black population is slowest to support gay marriage? I can’t imagine it only being about religion…possibly the cross section of pop culture and socioeconomic status?

It’s important to remember how far we’ve come in the last 10-20 years on some things, and use that hope to fuel working towards a better tomorrow

I was pleasantly surprised to see none of the numbers moved backwards. Sadly I don’t know if the same will hold true five more years down the road. It’s interesting the huge gap between non-collegeucated and college educated acceptance.

This may explain why there are so many down low black men. They stay closeted because of the hostile environment toward gay people they grow up in.
