Mocked by random people online and not connected with the Oscars in any way other than he did something silly a few years back.

The guy has a new album out and is doing a small tour. That’s it.

    2. Not the consequences of one’s actions. How dare an unprofessional action at a work related event affect his professional development.

This basically reads, “Feel pity, and buy a ticket for his tour.”

    3. The_Sherminator2 on

Bad Boys 4 grossed over $400 million against a $100 million budget last year.

Smith’s public image is up for debate but he’s obviously still a draw with general audiences at the box office. Hardly a washed up fallen star.

    4. Friendly-Biscotti612 on

This man has been mentally abused by his wife for years. Give him a break.

    5. Upstairs-Flow-483 on

Anyone read the book by Kim Porter? P Diddy dead wife. In the book will smith like coming in the back door unannounced.

    6. He’s hardly performing in the local nightclub. Scarborough Open Air Theatre is a Livenation operated venue with a capacity of 6000.

The Smashing Pumpkins are the gig before his. Some huge acts play there, Britney did it a few years back.

    7. Bit unfair to slag off Scarborough, the Open Air Theatre hosts acts bigger than Will Smith

    8. SecretKaleEater on

He’s being really clever and playing small UK venues, getting lots of attention, and the fans who attend will fucking love it.

    9. >These venues, with capacities ranging from 2,500 to 15,000, are a far cry from the stadiums and arenas typically associated with an artist of his stature.

Eh, I don’t really agree here. His ‘stature as an artist’ is based on his acting, not his music.

He hasn’t had a hit in.. what? 25 years?

    10. Scarborough open air is a good venue. Saw Fatboy Slim there last year and going again for Pendulum this year as I really enjoyed it. Nice setting, and the facilities were spot on

    11. Surely this is more because he’s not really recognised as a musician these days. His previous album was 20 years ago.

      These aren’t exactly tiny venues.

One minute you are picking up an Oscar the next you are dancing for you’re life in Scarborough

    13. Reality-Umbulical on

I would go and see Will Smith in Scarborough in a heartbeat and I live in Glasgow so thanks for the heads up I suppose

    14. gizmostrumpet on

Fair play to him for giving a boost to smaller communities and giving those places a chance to see him.

    15. There are a lot of smaller towns on the tour schedules for big acts at the moment. There must be a push for it. This is nothing unusual.

    16. CaptMelonfish on

      Wtf is wrong with Scarborough?
Status quo, simple minds, Tom Jones, korn, ub40, fat boy slim, and more played there last year.

    17. By who? The guy is a bonafide Hollywood superstar and still an A Lister.

His music hasn’t been a focus for a number of decades and the last major album (Lost & Found) was out if I remember 2005-6? He’s done some small tours before and doing the same now.

His music isn’t big enough to pull in an arena tour what he’s doing here is fine. He’s still banging out Hollywood films he’s not on his arse

    18. Old_Man_Benny on

This is how he likes to do it, I saw him a Blackpool by the beach and he mentioned all the haters saying he should be doing big stadiums. It was absolutely banging.

Wife asked if we wanted to go again I said no he’s a cunt, but I believe he could fill any of the big venues

    19. Scarborough open air theatre has a 6000 capacity. Its massive. He’s not playing at the end of a pier on the same bill as the Krankies

    20. My first reaction when I saw he was doing a UK tour was yeah don’t think so you public slapper

    21. He’s got some VIP tickets at Brixton selling for £1,185. Let’s not shed too many tears.

    22. Academic_Wolf5204 on

£95 to watch in the O2 Brixton is a bit steep for me. I was looking after this thread thinking it might be kind of cool. £60 and I’d of been there

    23. ThePlasticHippy on

How awful…so anyway it’s estimated that 322,910 are currently homeless in England

    24. Whats wrong with Scarborough?

Will Smith is still very rich and doesnt need to work at all.

If he was in Scarborough, its because he wanted to be there.

    25. Damaged his image for sure, won’t have the clout as he did so won’t earn as much as he probably would have… But still a top tier money spinner and earns more for a day on set (and probably not on set) than majority of people do in 10 years.

    26. LaraCroft_MyFaveDrug on

I live in Scarborough and the Open Air Theatre has attracted many big names from all kinds of music. It’s bang on peasholme park and not far from North Cliff beach itself so there’s worse venues for surroundings. This is a cash grab though for many artists as The Open Air Theatre uses Ticket-Master directly.

    27. I saw him in Blackpool a few years back. Nothing against blackpool, but it was a very strange and sad show.

    28. Meh, he could stop working right now and never do another money making thing and he would still be insanely wealthy living a life beyonf our dreams

    29. Puzzleheaded_Let_161 on

As I live in Scarborough this did make me laugh. The venue actually pretty decent and we get a few decent acts playing here . Saying that I sort expected him play larger attendance venues myself
