The post Jimmy Fallon Trolls Mumford & Sons with Absurdly Long Intro: Watch appeared first on Consequence.

Mumford & Sons stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “Rushmere,” the title track from their upcoming album. Before they could launch into the song, though, Fallon had more than a few words to say about the band, resulting in a hilarious and absurdly long intro.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome a band that needs no introduction,” Fallon starts, before going on to speak at length about the popular folk act and their history. As if he was reading from their Wikipedia article, he touches on their formation, notable moments, and stylistic influences. He even has members of the audience and a camera operator chime in.

Judging by their reaction — a good bit of laughter — it seemed as if Mumford & Sons themselves weren’t in on the bit. They certainly enjoyed it though and, after the three-and-a-half-minute preamble, eventually got to perform “Rushmere.” Watch the clip, as well as the accompanying interview, below.

Mumford & Sons new album Rushmere arrives on March 28th via Glassnote. It marks their first full-length album since the departure of their original banjo player Winston Marshall. To celebrate the new record, the band announced a set of intimate club shows across the globe. Get more details about Mumford & Sons’ upcoming tour dates here, and pick up tickets here.
