ONIEDA, N.Y. — Oneida Health is providing clarification regarding the status of contract negotiations with nurses, following a picket in front of the hospital last week.
In response to the informational picket organized by the New York State Nurses Association, Oneida Health clarified points that were raised.
“This event featured statements from various labor representatives concerning the care provided by our team and the staffing levels essential to maintaining that care. We understand that such comments can raise concerns, especially when made by individuals outside our community. Rest assured, we remain committed to providing high-quality care and are dedicated to ensuring the health and well-being of our patients and community,” stated the healthcare organization.
Hospital officials stated that on Feb. 12, a revised offer was sent to NYSNA.
However, they indicated that NYSNA has yet to respond to the offer or present it to their members for a vote.
“Oneida Health is ready and willing to engage in future negotiation sessions; however, we believe these discussions should proceed once NYSNA has a proposal to respond with, ensuring efficient use of time and resources for all parties involved,” stated the healthcare network.
Oneida Health expressed its commitment to reaching a fair and reasonable contract with NYSNA that aligns with its mission.
“At Oneida Health, we want to emphasize our unwavering support for our nurses. We highly value the exceptional work they do for our patients and the community. Our commitment is to ensure we have a fair contract with competitive compensation while balancing financial responsibility,” the healthcare organization stated.
The hospital also highlighted that its nurse retention rate is “higher than the regional average, underscoring our efforts to create a supportive work environment.”
