The Sun and Moon met this Saturday for a partial solar eclipse. Since the peak occurred at noon, I needed a relatively tall building to complement the phenomenon. What better choice than the Eiffel Tower!
To capture this shot, I positioned myself on the quays across from Port Debilly to achieve the best alignment between the Iron Lady and the Sun.
Photographing a solar eclipse requires a solar filter; without one, it’s impossible to capture the Sun’s contours. However, with a solar filter, the landscape completely disappears. That’s why this image is a composite of multiple shots taken with and without a filter. I used a 150-600mm telephoto lens at 200mm to keep a good portion of the Eiffel Tower in the frame.
⚙️ **Settings**:
• With filter: ISO 100 – f/6.3 – 1/80s
• Without filter: ISO 100 – f/5.6 – 1/4000s

Nice shot! I have an astro setup similar to yours but my 6D is paired with the Sigma100-400 instead. And a really natural blend! I didn’t realise until I read the comment.

Good idea; take them on while they’re distracted.

This would be a sick album cover for a rock band. Maybe named as “Eiffel’s Eclipse”

Looks like some dystopian scenery from Fallout or Mad Max.
