    1. “How do we make the majority white population more inclusive of minorities”

“We’ll establish sentencing guidelines that favours minorities”.

I honestly think the political class is trying to start a race war in the UK at this point. Why else would you consistently keep throwing gas on the fire like this. I honestly can’t think of a better way to make normal people turn racist other than this shit

UK a few years behind the US as always. Just entered its insane 2020 phase. Institutional racism against natives.

    3. White working class men in this country are so incredibly let down by the establishment. And people act so surprised when right wing extremist ideas start spreading.

This isn’t helping the feeling of people who think their country hates them. This looks like a division tactic as people in power thrive from a divide. The government and media as well as the justice system is making things worse and it is starting to feel like it’s being done on purpose.

Since ethnicity is a pretty loosely defined concept and you can be a white ethnic minority, what’s stopping someone claiming to be an ethnic minority to get favourable bail conditions?

When Farage was saying stuff like this 10-15 years ago, we were laughing and calling him names. Now, it’s happening and I’m speechless. It’s like someone really wants him to be PM and really wants to start a class war. And I’m sorry to say, but can please someone explain to me why should British people welcome asylum seekers and migrants, if they are going to be treated like Royalty? Why would anyone welcome Syrians, when the government literally is taking food away from disabled people, but spends billions in the seekers? Why are these stupid rulings from the courts allowing criminals to stay because their kids are going to miss McDonalds?

    7. >Campaigners have claimed that black British people can suffer from trauma originally inflicted on their ancestors by the slave trade.

Would love to know what kind of person comes up with this absolute tripe

    8. Remember, anyone who claims that this is a right wing conspiracy is an enemy of the state & an agitator and will be treated as such

UK has become a racist police state,I wish I could emigrate to a more civilised country

    10. When we inevitably end up with a far right, anti immigration government in the next election, whether Reform or a new party possibly formed by Lowe and Habib, Labour will throw their hands up in the air and exclaim ‘how could this happen!?’.

Grievance culture and identity politics, not even our own, America’s. These people can’t even create an independent thought, they have to copy the Americans. This is against British values, these people aren’t British, if you don’t like it here go live somewhere else.

I’m really struggling to see how this is anything different other than what we have heard about this before aside from the Robert Gen quote. It’s just the same thing as what was mentioned before? Unless im wrong, I just don’t get why they don’t make the pre-sentencing reports mandatory for everyone. I feel like this is slow news day rage bait, as usual, with nothing extra to add to the conversation aside from making people angry.

Also are there any sources for half the claims in the article? From what I could tell they just linked back to paywalled Telegraph opioion peices. So I’ll err on the side of caution before I’m making any judgement.

Why don’t we just skip to the end and give everyone except the native populace diplomatic immunity.

    14. I think the headline and some parts of the article aren’t quite right.

If I’m reading this document correctly, they’re not being given priority *for bail*.

The Bail Information Service is being asked to prioritise *gathering information* to help with bail applications for those most likely to be refused bail or have bail opposed, or most likely to have trouble with the bail process.

Which – on the face of it – is perfectly sensible. If there are limited resources we don’t want BIS spending time gathering information for a bail hearing for someone where CPS isn’t going to be opposing bail.

So it isn’t that anyone should be given priority *for bail*, or even that judges should priorities their cases. The BIS should priorities cases that are more likely to need that extra information.

The document gives a list of examples of the kind of people who *might* fall into this category – as with the Sentencing Guidelines stuff on PSRs, this is a non-exhaustive list, and individual decision-makers are told to use their own judgement.

Most of the examples given make perfect sense. Including women and people from ethnic minorities is an interesting choice. I assume the latter are there because of evidence that ethnic minorities are more likely to be refused bail than others if that extra information isn’t provided. Which would be bad.

Also worth noting – as the article does – that this stuff goes back to research commissioned by David Cameron when he was PM. Our criminal justice system moves very, very slowly. The idea that this is some sort of radical woke Labour stuff being forced on us is a bit silly.

Also this document is dated from January and was implemented back then – and as far as I can tell the country hasn’t fallen apart. I guess the Telegraph only just found out about it – that or they were waiting for the announcement that the Sentencing Guidelines are being overridden to publish it.

    15. Soooo.. Minorities more likely to commit crime, but given a lesser sentence…

      Make it make sense. Please.
