ASHLAND, Wis. (Northern News Now) – There’s a new opportunity to observe peregrine falcons on the shores of Lake Superior.

A live camera is now pointed at a box in Ashland, where a peregrine falcon has been nesting.

The falcon, named Scottie, is one of a handful of peregrine falcons that have been nesting near the Xcel Energy power plant in Ashland.

According to Xcel Energy, more than 1,000 young falcons have hatched at their facilities, and 35 were born at the plant in Ashland.

Through a partnership with the Raptor Resource Project, Xcel Energy has installed bird cameras around the country to increase awareness for the species that was once endangered.

This is the first live camera the company has done in Wisconsin.
