US at UNSC: Mutual recognition should be the goal of Kosovo and Serbia

    John Kelley

Kosovo and Serbia must work to ease tensions and refrain from escalating rhetoric between them for a more prosperous future, the United States representative to the United Nations Security Council, John Kelley, stated on Monday.

During his speech at the UN Security Council meeting, Kelley said that the ultimate goal between the two countries should be mutual recognition.

“Kosovo and Serbia must work to de-escalate tensions and refrain from escalating rhetoric between them and in their region for a more prosperous future. The ultimate goal should be mutual recognition. Normalizing relations is essential for the Western Balkans,” said John Kelley, writes KosovaPress.

Kelly also spoke about the issue of UNMIK in Kosovo, where he said that it has no role in the governance of Kosovo.
