The Kosovo Energy Corporation has announced that unit A3 of the Kosovo A Power Plant will stop operating tonight, April 8, at 23:59 due to significant water loss problems.

According to the announcement from KEK, this shutdown of unit A3 is being done to prevent any possible larger defect.

“To prevent any possible major defect, it is necessary for this unit to be stopped until the situation is fully verified. In this regard, KEK has notified the Electricity Distribution Company in a timely manner and has taken measures to ensure that the capacities of unit A3 are not nominated for the next day,” the announcement states.

KEK further stated that expert teams are on standby to identify and repair any defect that may be causing this problem and as soon as conditions are created – after the unit has cooled – to restore the unit to function in an optimal time.

The shutdown of Unit A3 will temporarily reduce total production capacity.
