The post Japanese Breakfast Covers Gorillaz’s “On Melancholy Hill” at Coachella appeared first on Consequence.

During their Saturday set at the first weekend of Coachella 2025, Japanese Breakfast covered the Gorillaz’ classic “On Melancholy Hill,” playing into their newly released record For Melancholy Brunettes (and sad women).

At the Outdoor Theatre, Michelle Zauner and the band played an 11-song set containing a mix of crowd favorites, like “Road Head” and “Be Sweet,” and For Melancholy Brunettes singles, like “Orlando in Love” and “Mega Circuit.” Nearing the end of their time, Zauner started in “On Melancholy Hill,” with tour mate Christabel Lin providing the song’s recognizable motif on electric violin. Eventually their opening act, Ginger Root, joined the band onstage to finish out the track. Watch the performance here.
