The Gov website tells you what makes something Secret, the most relevant sections being:
International relations
Causes serious damage to the international reputation of the UK or a friendly country.
f. Causes serious damage to the relations with friendly countries, resulting in formal protest or sanction.
Prosperity
g. Causes serious damage to the safety, security or prosperity of the UK or friendly nations by affecting their commercial, economic and financial interests.
So it’s not exactly surprising but it also is a sign of a breakdown of trust between the UK and US.
Trump is not and never will be our friend. Even if you ignore Russia, Trump only cares about himself and would never cooperate with us unless he stands to benefit at the same time. He will always want to come out on top with any cooperation too. Not to mention he cannot keep a secret to save him goddamn life, he is a walking national security risk.
I truly hope the Five Eyes Alliance has been frozen.
It’s not really the tariff war that’s the issue here, it’s that the US government is completely untrustworthy, both through incompetence and also potential Russian infiltration.
