In before the “This is fine because its not legally binding” people come in…completely missing the point.

  2. The highest level of state security and protection should be afforded to anybody (and especially women) who want to leave this insane religion.

    >Their decisions are not legally binding,

that is entirely the point, any attempts to regulate or register these *voluntary arrangements* would have the effect of legitimising them. And where does it stop? Jehovah Witnesses, Mormon councils, Jewish courts, we don’t want to go back to having two or more legal systems in parallel.

Theirs being welcoming to all and their beliefs then their takeing the piss and this is now takeing the piss.

  5. Yes its not legally binding but it is defacto the ‘ruling’ people within that culture abide by. A simple law criminalizing any such practice would quickly do away with this nonsense.

People who make these ruling should be treated no differently than someone impersonating a police office, medic etc.

Parliament has demonstrated that when they really want to pass legislation quickly they can absolutely do so.

I’m pretty tolerant of anyone, but the sharia system, and any sexist court, has no place in Britain.

I object to the sexism part, the rest is whatever.

  7. This is your reminder that every club has non legally binding rules that are stricter than actual law.

  9. Do you Brits really not see what’s going to happen soon when you inevitably become a minority demographically?

“‘Back-room’ councils which rule on Muslim marriages have been accused of misogyny and exploiting religious freedoms ”

To the surprise of NO ONE who paid attention to how this was going many years ago, if there are no repurcussions for NOT integrating into the secular society – this is what you get.
