Osmani: The sacrifice of the martyrs, a guide for us
The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, paid homage at the martyrs’ cemetery complex in Velani, on Pristina’s Martyrs’ Day.
Osmani said that the sacrifice of the martyrs for the freedom and independence of Kosovo are a guide for every day.
She emphasized that the sacrifice of the martyrs is evidence of the long struggle for the freedom and independence of the state of Kosovo.
The country’s leader said that “the strongest foundations of our state stand because of the sacrifice of the martyrs.”
“Here in Velani, a large number of martyrs who gave their lives for Kosovo are buried, which is also a testimony to the long war, for freedom, for independence and the state that we enjoy today. Therefore, we commemorate them all with the deepest respect and every day we have as our guide the sacrifice that these martyrs made on the land of Kosovo, which is washed with blood. Never forgetting that the strongest foundations of our state stand even today precisely because of this sacrifice”, Osmani said.
The acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, along with his government cabinet, also paid homage at the martyrs’ cemetery complex in Velani.
The mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, along with former KLA commander Rrustem Mustafa and other former fighters, also paid tribute.
