Deer Valley Resort: Deer Valley Resort will be wrapping up its 2024-25 ski season Sunday. In celebration, the resort will have its mascots out Sunday, and host two events all weekend. The Sticky Wicket will welcome guests for music from DJ Dolph, food and drinks from noon to 5 p.m. each day. Also Saturday and Sunday at the same time, there will be an event at the McHenry beach featuring another DJ, jambalaya cooking and more. There was fresh powder Thursday and early-Friday at the resort.
Park City Mountain: Park City Mountain will be wrapping up its 2024-25 ski season Monday. In celebration, there will be a full day of festivities including hot cocoa and donuts at the Payday steps at 9 a.m., a DJ playing the Legacy Deck from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Pixie and the Party Boys playing a concert from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
U.S. Ski Team: Parkite speedskier Lauren Macuga posted two second-place showings at last weekend’s Palisades Tahoe FIS event: in both Saturday and Sunday’s giant slalom races. The 22 year old typically sticks to downhill and super-G races. The FIS event wraps up Macuga’s breakout season, finishing ranked 17th in the world alpine standings.
Miners: The Miners baseball squad was the only Park City High School team to play during their spring break. The team was 2-1 in three games heading into Friday’s matchup with Hillcrest. Park City took down Hillcrest twice on Tuesday and Wednesday, falling to Bear River Thursday in extra innings. The Miners are 16-4 and ranked 12th in the state according to MaxPreps. After Friday’s game, the team has just one more regular season series left against Stansbury.
The Miners track and field squad jetted off to Nike’s Arcadia Invitational last weekend in California. The event has been running for 57 years as one of the premier competitions in preps track and field. At Arcadia, Tatum Flach finished sixth in the girls 3200m race, the boys finished third in the 4×200, and Sierra Darling earned sixth in the girls 400m. Head coach Dave Yocum said the team will enjoy some rest and relaxation over spring break, not sending many athletes to Saturday’s Davis Invitational.
Just before the Park City High School spring break, the Miners softball squad fell 12-0 to Murray. Murray scored in every inning while holding Park City scoreless. The Miners sit at 3-10 in head coach Ashley Manusos’ second season. After the break, the team will face Jordan Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. on the road.
