Holy Light From Jerusalem Arrived In Greece For Easter

The Holy Light, or Holy Fire, from Jerusalem arrived in Greece after 8 p.m. and was received at Athens International Airport with head-of-state honors. It was then transported to the Church of Agioi Anargyroi in Plaka, the Greek seat of the Holy Sepulchre.

Aegean and Olympic Air distributed the Holy Light to various destinations across Greece, including 18 new locations. Specifically, the Holy Fire was delivered to eight destinations, with the following routes and arrival times:

The Holy Light was shared with worshippers after the midnight “Christ Is Risen” hymn, celebrating Christ’s Resurrection.

Earlier that day, the light was lit at Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Patriarch Theophilos III handed it to the Greek delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Giannis Loverdos, who described it as “a symbol of hope and optimism for humanity.”
