SKOPJE (N. Macedonia), April 23 (SeeNews) – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said it has slightly lowered its forecast for North Macedonia’s economic growth this year to 3.2%, down from the 3.3% forecast it had made in February.
The country’s economic growth is expected to stagnate at 3.2% in both 2026 and 2027, the IMF said in the latest edition of its World Economic Outlook report on Tuesday.
Average consumer price inflation is forecast at 3.4% in 2025 and 2.2% in 2026, compared to 3.5% last year, the IMF said.
North Macedonia’s current account gap is projected at 2.16% in 2025 and 2.14% in 2026.
The IMF expects that the economy of the Emerging and Developing Europe area will expand by 2.1% in 2025, after growing by 3.4% in 2024.
North Macedonia’s economy expanded by 2.8% in 2024, after growing by 2.1% the previous year, the government has said earlier.
