Amid a political crisis that has gripped the Kosovo Assembly following several unsuccessful attempts to elect a new Speaker, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has long expressed her full readiness to hold consultations with political party leaders in order to overcome the situation.

According to the President’s media advisor, Bekim Kupina, Vjosa Osmani, in an official letter dated April 16, 2025, addressed to the presiding officer of the Assembly, Avni Dehari, offered the possibility of meetings and emphasized that she is open to consultations at any time, based on the needs of the political parties.

According to Kupina, the President remains committed to institutional dialogue, cooperation, and coordination in the interest of the country’s stability and the welfare of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.

This development comes at a time when the Kosovo Assembly has failed four consecutive times to elect Albulena Haxhiu as Speaker. Her candidacy, proposed by the Vetëvendosje Movement, has not secured the necessary majority, despite the full attendance of MPs during the sessions.

In the most recent session held on April 25, Haxhiu received only 57 votes in favor out of 118 MPs present, with 47 against and 3 abstentions.
This situation has caused an institutional deadlock and increased pressure for a political solution.

Meanwhile, the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) today called on President Vjosa Osmani to convene a meeting with the leaders of parliamentary political parties to discuss possible solutions.
