CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A man who lived in East Ridge for years is now on trial in federal court in Chattanooga on war crimes charges.
Sead Miljkovic’s accused of torturing Bosnian prisoners during the armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s.
The U.S. government is charging him with three counts of torture and three counts of passport fraud.
Court documents says Miljkovic inflicted “severe beatings” on several prisoners throughout the war.
When the war ended, the court document says after 2 failed attempts at entering the U.S. under his birth name of Miljkovi, Sead was able to enter under the false identity of ‘Dukic.’
In 2007, the court document says Miljkovic naturalized as a U.S. citizen under his false identity.
Miljkovic was located in East Ridge in June 2023.
