The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, has announced that he will attend the meeting called by the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, for consultations on the constitution of the Assembly.

“Deeply believing that the Republic of Kosovo urgently needs an institutional unblocking and the restoration of the regular functioning of the highest legislative institution, as well as to pave the way for the constitutional deadlines for the establishment of the Government, I will respond positively to this invitation for a meeting,” Krasniqi wrote on Facebook, regarding the meeting that Kurti has invited at 8:30 on Thursday.

He said that he encourages Kurti to reflect on the situation created in order to find a candidate, as he said, suitable for Speaker of the Assembly.

“In this spirit, I encourage Mr. Kurti to reflect responsibly on the current situation and to show sincere willingness to enable the formation of new institutions, so that Kosovo can have a legitimate and functional Assembly and Government as soon as possible. In this context, finding a suitable candidate, who enjoys the support of the majority of MPs, would be an important step forward,” the PDK leader wrote.

He further stated that there is nothing to discuss regarding the issue of the deputy speakers of the Assembly, as this, according to him, is a right guaranteed by the Constitution and clearly defined.

“The Democratic Party of Kosovo, as always, will continue to behave with institutional responsibility and seriousness, in accordance with the state and civic interest. We will make all the detailed positions of the PDK public tomorrow, during and after the meeting, through a press conference,” Krasniqi wrote.
