    > Pressed on the remarks by Sky News, Mr Farage stressed that he does want the NHS to remain “free at the point of delivery”. He added that “it is how we get there” that Reform is looking into.

Just trust me bro, I won’t sell it to Americans.

  2. It’s insane people look at this guy, look at the US, then look back at this guy and go “Yeah I can see myself voting for Reform.”

I guess it really is the shoot yourself in the foot to spite your face.

  3. I mean the answer he has is “private medical insurance”.

    It’s not rocket science.

  4. Krabsandwich on

Great plan Nigel lets not pay for the NHS and somehow the money will magically appear or perhaps you just plan to sell it all off to the US Insurance companies that have been interested in the NHS for years.

One of the main reasons a US/UK trade deal keeps failing is the US demand for access to the NHS, its political suicide for a British Government to allow that to happen. I am sure Nigel will take that one for the team, he is rich enough not to worry.

They’re all talk and no trousers. Experts and saying what duffers want to hear.

  6. Ruin_In_The_Dark on

    >but fails to offer alternative

The alternative is to die in the streets like dogs if you can’t afford insurance.

  7. Select-Tea-2560 on

He’s brilliant at just screaming about everything wrong but has 0 solutions for anything. Remember when brexit would solve all our issues? Remember when he said liz truss’s economic plan was the best Britain ever had? Yeah he’s clueless.

    Make Mexico pay!

While the rest of the western world seems to be understanding the folly of the current U.S.A. Administration with its simplistic authoritarian solutions and turning away from this kind of nonsense, Frog Face and his Reform Party are still doing worryingly well in the polls over here.

  9. ItsSuperDefective on

Farage, you’re flying too close to the sun here.

You are popular, but you are popular because you say things that people like.  You haven’t managed to reach Trump cult levels where worshipping you is an end unto itself and people will distort anything they think to match you.

  10. iamabigtree on

Farage wants to get rid of the NHS but it’s such a cult that his supporters will just nod and go along with it.

  11. It will be ironic to see his voters ending up either bankrupt or dead during his first term , because they couldn’t afford healthcare .

  12. BananaMilkshakeButt on

The IDIOTS that want to vote for him will see this as a good thing but then won’t consider how this will impact everyone… especially seeing as he has no alternative in place.

This is the wholf fucking EU referendum again.

  13. Dear God he is such a twat. He’ll happily fuck up the NHS while claiming to protect it, and sell us all down the river to the private insurance industry. I’m sure he wouldn’t make a dime while doing it, either.

  14. andymaclean19 on

That’s very Farage. Call out something which isn’t working. Offer no alternative solution. Any idiot can do that and the solution matters.

If, as he says, the problem is with efficiency (‘we get less bang for our buck than others’) then whether the service is funded through taxation, insurance, Donald Trump’s tariffs or just robbing people on the street is completely irrelevant, it’s how the service is run and managed that matters. It would be perfectly reasonable to have a private healthcare system funded by taxation or a public healthcare system funded by insurance.

Recent efforts have proven that if we make the NHS more private-like (the private healthcare funded by taxation model) it just gets more expensive without delivering better care. Seems like changing the funding model isn’t going to fix that.

The most important question, though, is how you divide the cost. Do you make it means tested (i.e. a percentage of your income like UK and France), a flat tax (Germany) or insurance based (so frequently sick people or people with life long conditions pay more).

Right now 20% of all tax is for the NHS and it costs about £3000 per head per year. So if your family of 4 pays less than £48,000 per year in tax (puts you in about the top 20% of families I think) you will be worse off with any non means-tested system.

Why would adding the absolute psychological need for profit into a system of life and death ever turn out well for anybody else other than those taking the profit away? It’s so obviously not a good idea.

  16. ‘Some of you may die, but that’s a sacrifice I am willing to make’

  17. Ozone--King on

That’s reforms entire manifesto. It’s a complete joke, they cut taxes but offer no alternative funding for anything. It’s hilariously bad but I guess they never expect their voting base to read past a headline let alone their joke of a manifesto.

  18. BenathonWrigley on

People will vote for him and then be surprised after Reform win and they have to pay for NHS visits and Drs appointments. Mental.

  19. The end of that sentence is basically every Reform policy. Never suggesting anything to actually make a situation better

  20. GlitzyChomsky on

The “alternative” that isn’t spoken about is an private insurance-style model, based upon the system in the United States, and most likely provided by American healthcare conglomerates. There are recordings of him saying as much.

If you’re unable to afford to pay for your own ambulance to take you to hospital to reconstruct your shattered pelvis as a result of that car accident you were just involved in… well, that’s a “you” problem.

    An utterly depressing future awaits.

  21. Just another rich guy with a pro-rich agenda to enrich himself and his rich mates.

  22. Mr_miner94 on

Funny how this comes out AFTER most people have voted in local elections.

  23. 313378008135 on

If they stop taxpayer funding of the NHS will taxes go down too? as if. it will be “pay us the same taxes but get less and pay for the NHS somewhere else”

you will be paying the same taxes as now, except paying for private medical insurance on top like the USA. and it will be eye wateringly expensive the more you use it. If they let you use it and dont deny your medically prescribed treatment because <insert vaguely plausible excuses in the name of bureaucracy and profit here>

  24. I am willing for the NHS to be privatise, for it to be chopped up and sold out to American private healthcare companies. I am willing for people to go bankrupt for medical bills and I am willing for people to pay £10000 per month for diabetes treatment and so for people to die because they cannot afford healthcare. As long as they stop the boats that’s a price I am willing to pay . So on that cost benefit analysis,I will be voting Reform and for Farage.

    Signed reform voters.

  25. CanisAlopex on

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn’t the whole point of Brexit to save our NHS? /s

If you are a patriot you will not vote for a party that wants to privatise the NHS. It will harm us all.

  26. Competitive_Pool_820 on

Most of his supporters won’t be able to afford healthcare. I’m confused.

  27. cookiesnooper on

Typical populist grifter. Will say anything to gain attention but will offer nothing in return

  28. ChooChooBananaTrain on

The amount of people who say they are voting for reform because they’ll stop the people on the boats blows my mind.

We all sit here and laugh at how dumb Americans are for electing trump. Let me be clear, the same level of people exists in the UK and those people are the ones who believe this above narrative.

We can sit and joke, but mark my words, fascism is coming for the UK via Farage and a group of uneducated, misinformed Brits.

To be clear, immigration is a problem, but it’s not the chaps sitting on the boats. It’s all the legal immigrants who are piling in via visas and brining their extended families with.

  29. The fraud behind Brexit is back with more scams. I wish we could leave this nazi in the past.

  30. BrexitReally on

That’s Reform for you – all criticism and no viable alternative solutions – all wind and no substance.

  31. Everyone keeps telling me we have to just roll over and accept that this guy is popular and will come to power, and then I see shit like this and I’m just like…Are we really happy to behave as stupidly as the Americans have? Really? We’re really going to ignore all context and torch the whole country over one issue?

  32. Plasticbonder on

This is Fuhrage and his crappy Reform outfit. The grifter moans for England but never has anything positive to offer. And that seems to be good enough for his followers for some reason.

  33. Zerttretttttt on

He’s finally openly going for it, if this doesn’t get people to see his grift, I don’t know what will

  34. ClacksInTheSky on

    He’s a wanker.

He’s going to confuse his supporters with this “point of delivery” shit and they’ll argue for it to the end of the earth, not realising they’re aiming to destroy the NHS

  35. Calm-Treacle8677 on

Get tired of seeing this weasels face everyday.
He’s just an MP from some nowhere shithole.

  36. shepherd0006 on

If you’re serious about refuting this you have to call out what Farage is actually saying. He’s calling for an end to funding the NHS via taxes, without an alternative because *he wants to dismantle the NHS as we know it*.

  37. Boundish91 on

This is the UKs highest polling party apparently.

Don’t laugh at the Americans for being idiots and electing Trump.
