Debate on New Law for Confiscation and Management of Stolen Assets Advances in Bosnia and Herzegovina

09-10 April 2025, Capljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) – UNODC, in cooperation with the BiH Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of the Fight against Corruption (APIK), organized a workshop aimed at supporting the development of Integrity Plans for the Judicial and Prosecutorial Training Centers (JPTCs) of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) and Republika Srpska (RS). The event was part of the ongoing project “Strengthening the capacity and coordination of judiciary and law enforcement authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina to effectively address corruption and organized crime”, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).

The two-day workshop gathered fifteen relevant representatives from the two training centers, APIK, entity government anti-corruption bodies (Government of FBiH Anti-Corruption Team and RS Ministry of Justice) and the OSCE Mission to BiH. Presentations focused on international standards and practices, such as the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), its implementation review mechanism and available UNODC tools for the prevention of corruption. Participants discussed methodologies for drafting and implementing integrity plans, how to analyze, grade and mitigate risk factors relevant to their institutions, and possible measures to improve accountability in their daily operations.

Building on these discussions, participants engaged in group work to develop customized integrity plans for the JPTCs. This included completion of a self-assessment survey for the JPTCs and presentation of draft versions of the 2 integrity plans.

In this manner, the activity supports the internal organization of the JPTCs and practical skills of staff, in line with UNODC’s broader effort to promote implementation of international standards in the fight against corruption and organized crime through its Regional Programme for South-Eastern Europe, and in line with the BiH Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan, 2024-2028.
