Kosovo will never forget Malaysia’s unwavering support during its most difficult moments, President Dr Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu said during her official visit to the country.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Osmani expressed deep gratitude for Malaysia’s early recognition of Kosovo’s independence in 2008, describing it as more than a diplomatic gesture.

“It carried hope and solidarity. It brought trust in our people’s future, and for all of that, our appreciation will never fade,” she said.

“Today, we are not only looking back. We are looking forward with clear purpose and strong resolve in the relationship between our two nations,” she added.

Osmani said her discussions with Anwar focused on exploring new avenues to strengthen cooperation between Malaysia and Kosovo, particularly in diplomacy, trade, and investment.

“We reiterated our commitment to stronger diplomatic relations, closer economic cooperation, and meaningful engagement in areas of mutual interest,” she said.

Describing her visit as a milestone in Kosovo-Malaysia ties, Osmani remarked, “It is a great honour to stand on Malaysian soil, a moment that will be remembered as a significant achievement in the friendship between our countries.”

On economic collaboration, both nations agreed to expand trade and encourage investment in key sectors.

“There is immense potential, from agriculture to energy, technology to the halal industry. We must bring our business communities closer, create more job opportunities, and open doors to new possibilities,” she said. – May 2, 2025
