You have to pay your rent in Musk Bucks: it’s his own currency that looks like dollars but has his face on it always. Only other option is to pay with Doge coin.

Historically, company towns always thrive in the long term and with little controversy. /s

    Fantastic news. Hopefully we see:

    Neuralink – “Synapse”

    The Boring Company – “Loopville

    Tesla – “Gigaville”

    xAI – “Cognetica”

…and of course Elonia on Mars.

Makes me think of Sinclair Wyoming which is a factory town. But this one will be owned by a nazi

  5. The fully automated electrical, sewer and water systems will be coming online next quarter! They’re going to be amazing.

We appreciate all the citizens pooping in buckets for now! Free Tesla-land CyberCandles at the commissary.

  6. I can’t imagine anything more dystopia-ish than living in a Musk company town. I imagine it will make coal mining towns seem like utopia.

  7. Just to clarify things here for people. The new city that’s being created called Starbase will operate like any other small city in Texas, called a Type-C Municipality. It holds elections like other cities, can levy taxes like other cities, and can provide municipal services like other cities. A Type-C municipality has a commission form of government led by a single Mayor and two commissioners. In order to become a city you have to get the signatures of a significant number of residents of the to-be city and then hold an election involving those residents to create the city. That vote that is happening right now and is highly likely to pass. At the same time the residents vote on who the Mayor and two commissioners will be. All three are SpaceX employees and there’s no one else running on the ballot so if the city gets a majority of vote all three will win uncontested. They’re elected to 2 year terms rather than the normal 4 and need to be re-elected every 2 years to stay in office.
