After a performance of Bonnie Raitt’s “Something to Talk About” and America’s vote, Louisiana teen John Foster is now in “American Idol’s” top 8.
Some 45 family members and friends from Louisiana traveled to Hollywood for Sunday night’s show.
It was “Iconic Women in Music” night on “Idol,” with Miranda Lambert as guest mentor.
In his session with Lambert, Addis native Foster, 18, admitted that she was his first crush.

“Really?” Lambert asked. “Good taste.”
“John walked in with his cowboy hat and western shirt and his guitar and told me I was his first crush,” Lambert said later. “And I was like, OK, I love you.”
“I had a really hard time making eye contact with her because, you know, she was my first childhood crush, I was too nervous,” Foster admitted.
Lambert advised him to play his guitar first during the first part of the song and not be afraid to pull that guitar to his side and interact with the audience.
“It’s also my go-to karaoke song so I’m very familiar with it,” Lambert said of “Something to Talk About.”
“I think Bonnie Raitt was perfect because it shows some personality and some sass,” Lambert added.
“American Idol” returns at 7 p.m. Monday on ABC.
