    Oh god.

The tipping is going to get out of hand. Drivers smashing food against peoples doors because no tip was left.

    People expecting a £15 tip for a £20 order.

    The horror.

  2. From now on let’s boycott deliveroo as well because it became an American company

  3. ThatchersDirtyTaint on

I wonder if they’ll care who their delivery riders and drivers really are?

  4. No_Scale_8018 on

The country would be so much better without Justeat or Deliveroo.

How are they so popular with the cost of living? McDonald’s is about 40% price to get it delivered.

  5. Wrath_Viking on

Just the natural course of things. Deliveroo bailing in time before the collapse. While doordash thinks they’ll be able to magically squeeze more profit by having a larger market share. Guess which one is the winner here.

  6. I noticed a house down the road from me had a McDonald’s delivery sitting on their step all day yesterday, I’m not sure if it was the laziness or the food waste which annoyed me more.

The US takeover of any British company worth of value continues. Utterly ridiculous how the government allows this sort of thing to happen.

  8. Orangesteel on

One sketchy company gets bought out by another even sketchier company. Great.

Honestly I can’t see a way that Deliveroo gets worse. I feel bad for their admin / customer service teams, who are probably about to lose their jobs or have them made a lot worse by a bunch of corporate American bullshit.

Otherwise, for the consumer, it’ll just be the same problems but with less oversight and less chance for refunds / complaints.

Local place near me marks up prices by nearly 40% on Deliveroo. Now i run numbers before using it and im like “nope”

    Love it.

So that’s 1000s of illegal migrants given jobs and a reason to come to the UK.

Now a handful of London elite get £billions without tax.

Then a US company buys it up to exploit further.

This is the whole problem with global capitalism in one neat little scenario.

How do any of these companies have any money at all? I thought they were consistently posting losses year on year?

  13. TheAdamena on

Oh boy, another British company getting taken over by a foreign entity.

  14. Murfsterrr on

Another company to get ruined by the Americans. I’ll add them to the list.

  15. Reasonable_Storm_390 on

Could they not have merged with a European rival FFS. So that’s more profits leaving the country to America

Those arseholes still owe me ten quid. It’s been four years and it still grates.

Then there was the guy on Reddit who ordered a full shop and they cancelled literally every item except for an onion!

Maybe they’ll get better after this is, but I’mI’m not going to find out.

The amount of junk food people are eating now compared to even just 10 years ago is unbelievable. I’m really not looking forward to seeing what will happen to the NHS in a few years.

  18. cuppachuppa on

People’s laziness (and willingness to pay for it) knows no bounds .

  19. Use Deliveroo maybe twice a month, don’t think I’ll be using it again

  20. TinitusTheRed on

After hearing the DoorDash horror stories from the US it’ll be time to delete the app and yet more UK money disappearing off to the US.

I used it exclusively when doing my hybrid working days in an office in the middle of an industrial park. The closest place to get food; the greasy burger van in front of Wickes. The high street was 4 miles away, so to save time i’d use Deliveroo on the days i forgot lunch.

Ban these extorting ‘gig economy’ services.

They turn a blind eye to who they employ and dodge any responsibility by hiding within loopholes.

  22. Pale_Goose_918 on

Now there’s no British interest, they should immediately regulate for tighter regulation of working conditions and right to work in the sector. No point in privatising profits overseas while socialising the harms!

I swear every time a UK / EU startup does well, they just get bought out by some US firm.

  25. ARelentlessScot on

Used it once and never again. Even less chance using it now if being taking over by another yank company. I’ve even chucked my football team of 40 years support after being bought by the yanks

  26. Wake up baby! Another company to go into the book Vassal State has dropped.

Why is the US wanting to annex Canada when they already own everything of importance in the UK?

  27. Nicenightforawalk01 on

I remember a certain Theresa May saying the uk was not for sale and brexit would usher in a new era where we would not sell our business’s to foreign countries…. Blah blah .. it’s in fact increases … oh just like those boats

  28. Thegrillman2233 on

Yet another UK company being bought up by an American company. We truly are just a vassal state for the US!
