Acting Deputy Prime Minister, Emilia Rexhepi, has called the statement of LDK leader, Lumir Abdixhiku, who has proposed a transitional government with Albanian parties and representatives of non-majority communities, according to constitutional provisions, “shameful, unacceptable and extremely dangerous.”

“Shameful, unacceptable and extremely dangerous! With these words I can describe the statement of the leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, with which non-majority communities in Kosovo are openly ignored and eliminated from the political dialogue. Such an approach is chauvinistic, politically regressive and deeply harmful to the vision of a modern and multiethnic Kosovo. As Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for human rights and non-majority community issues, but above all as the most voted Bosnian in the recent elections, I must say it clearly and loudly: Kosovo is not and will never be a state reserved for only one ethnic group. It belongs to every one of its citizens – be it Albanian, Bosnian, Turk, Roma, Serb, Ashkali, Egyptian, Gorani or anyone else who lives and builds this country,” Rexhepi wrote on Facebook.

She said that “the exclusion of representatives of other communities is a message of hatred and a denial of basic human rights.”

“The rhetoric calling for the formation of a government only through Albanian parties, excluding representatives of other communities, is nothing more than a message of hatred and denial of fundamental human rights, as well as a violation of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo. This is not just a political mistake – this is a moral decline. It is shocking and disappointing that such words come from a new leader of the LDK, from whom a progressive, unifying and not divisive vision was expected. Such a statement is an insult to all of us who consider the Republic of Kosovo as our state and who work day and night for its democratization and European path. We will not be silent. We will not retreat. We will be a strong voice whenever there is an attempt to silence equality, because Kosovo is a multiethnic state that we will build together,” wrote Rexhepi, who posted Abdixhiku’s statement at the press conference.

LDK MP Besian Mustafa reacted to this. He published the letter that LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku sent back to acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who is also the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement.

“Emilija Rexhepi should read the entire letter, slowly and carefully, before posting baseless accusations. The reason for Albin’s shroud is not dismissed…” – Mustafa wrote on Facebook.

He has also posted the part of the letter where Abdixhiku proposes a National Transitional Government, with all Albanian parties and in accordance with constitutional provisions, including representatives of parties from non-majority communities.
