Starting May 15, the California Science Center will premiere GAME ON! Science, Sports & Play, a groundbreaking, interactive exhibition designed to inspire visitors of all ages and abilities through the joy of movement, sports, and science. Spanning 17,000 square feet, this dynamic experience will remain on view through the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Developed in collaboration with the LA84 Foundation, Walter Family Foundation, and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, the exhibition invites guests to explore the science behind their favorite sports while celebrating inclusivity, health, and human potential.

Sports Meet STEM in Immersive, High-Energy Exhibit

GAME ON! introduces a broad range of physical and virtual challenges—from baseball and soccer to yoga, dance, and snowboarding—offering a hands-on understanding of physics, anatomy, nutrition, and wellness. Visitors will be guided by a diverse roster of Los Angeles-based mentor athletes and technology-enhanced simulations.

“We’re excited to bring this innovative exhibition to our guests, exploring the intersection between science and sports,” said Jeffrey Rudolph, President and CEO of the California Science Center.

Activities include:

  • Syncing a baseball swing with pitches ranging from 30 to 60 mph.
  • Practicing soccer drills that teach biomechanics and precision kicking.
  • Swimming with an elite Para athlete in a virtual pool.
  • Engaging in breath control and vision training exercises.
  • Exploring the impact of nutrition on long-term health.
  • Discovering careers in the sports industry beyond being an athlete.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Athletes and Thinkers

“I am looking forward to kids experiencing the transformational power of sports and learning the science behind the games they love,” said Renata Simril, President and CEO of the LA84 Foundation.

GAME ON! reinforces how physical activity and STEM learning go hand-in-hand. By connecting visitors to the science behind sports, the exhibition aims to empower young athletes, students, and families to improve their health and performance through knowledge.

“We’re proud that this exhibition will engage youth and families across Los Angeles,” said Nichol Whiteman, CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation. “It aligns with our mission to create access to educational and wellness opportunities.”
