  1. I call bs. The standard of poverty here is super low. By any reasonably decent standard of what poverty is, majority of India would be below it.

  2. Considering Kerala is under a communist local government, what’s the likelihood their poverty data is falsified or watered down by the local governments?
    As an eastern European guy you may expect me to be more than skeptical.
    Edit: I stand corrected, the data is accurate but the data means to collect poverty data is very distinct from that used to measure poverty in western countries (based on relative income poverty) which made me confused at the shockingly low numbers.

  3. Holy Color Blindness Batman! Another map in which the mean looks different but the two extremes look the same. So, the regions are either very rich or very poor, but I can’t tell which is which without looking at the actual numbers. The colors you choose should go from darkest to lightest when viewed monochromatically.
