  1. Until the press will pick up on a minor flaw and make it the sole focus of their coverage

The only deal worth it’s salt is one where I get everything and you get nothing apparently. All these right wingers must not pay for a single thing in their life.

Strange headline for the BBC to run on! Reads more like an opinion piece than a news article

when you make deals with the devil, its not about what you gained but about what its cost

I do find it funny that Tories were unable to make a deal during the first Trump presidency, but labour can in its second.

I will be curious about what the deal involves.

Edit: Just to add, i am aware the Tories were unable to make a deal from thank you to the comments that pointed it out.

it still makes me laugh that it happened under labour and not Tories.

I guess all those ckcscking visits worked. Well done Kier. I told you when you were in the CPS that you would find your niche one day

  7. Lets see some details first,
Food standards and protecting the NHS are red lines that don’t need eroding

  8. Not really. I’m going to keep boycotting the products of that fascist country.

Makes me giggle that people think a deal, without knowing any of the intricacies is immediately a good deal.

The problem is, nobody believes a word he says. And this isn’t the electorate’s fault, as politicians imply. It’s a natural reaction to being consistently lied to.

Trust is dead as a dodo, never to return. And that’s the failure of the Labour party (which also apparently hates British Labour).

Before the deal is actually announced and all the details are revealed, it’s wholy premature to call it an “achievement”, significant or otherwise.

  12. Agree with many of the comments here, basically what we have here is 2 leaders who are basically lying their way through their leaderships.

I don’t trust the word either of them say or any of their colleagues as far as I’m concerned the entire thing is messed up.

Trump really should be focusing on his own country not bragging continuously on social media it’s not professional and I think it shows what sort of person he is outside of the public eye…

I dont imagine we’re coming out as winners on this trade deal, we have little bargaining power or weight to throw around

So whatever the deal is all it will mean is more american control of us and seeing as we’re now not that far off just becoming a US state, will be interesting to see how far they decided to fuck us

Can we PLEASE just do a close deal with the EU, a deal with trump doesn’t mean shit and will prob have awful strings 😭

  15. Maidenly_Matilda on

I don’t want a deal with the USA. You can keep your shit cars and your chlorinated Chicken.

is this the one where he gives fascists preferential treatment?

    Yeah, some achievement that.

  17. Shawn_The_Sheep777 on

We need to know what is included. But a reduction in the tariffs imposed on our cars and steel will be welcomed.

  18. Is it? I am more interested in the content of the deal rather than having a deal.
US always has the advantage on this, so lets see where we are getting disadvantage on it…

  19. Quite the article calling a deal we have no details about, not even MP’s knowing what it is, a ‘significant achievement’? It could also be a ‘significant disappointment’. Who knows???

  20. iiji111ii1i1 on

The deal that would couldn’t have done without brexit? So credit is with Farage on this one really 😂

  21. SojournerInThisVale on

Maybe we could wait to see the contents before celebrating or denouncing it?

  22. Equal_System_6728 on

You don’t use anything related to those companies? Colour me surprised.

One thing we’ve seen during this trade fiasco is how many people on left and right are utterly desperate for us all to be poorer so they can be validated in their political opinions. How many really want to suffer because Starmer is in charge. Crazy stuff.

The wise man built his economy on the rocks. The foolish man built his economy on the Trump. Unfortunately, a few weeks later, the Trump moved away after watching something on Fox that evening that changed his mind, leaving the foolish man with nothing at all.

BBC speaking positive over Labour? Jesus never thought I’d see the day. There must be a catch

Trade deal with increasingly isolationist America instead of a return to frictionless trade with the single largest trading block in the world which also happen to be our neighbours? Genius…

I heard a pretty apt quote recently, “Many ally themselves with evil when it’s convenient, thinking they can swerve back to the righteous path before it’s too late”.
