Don’t you think it’s really sad to bring up a child in Skopje? I have no idea what young parents are thinking, if they are thinking. Chronic health issues will be of huge concerns in decades to come for babies and children that grow up breathing this air

I keep trying to tell people this (all of them have constantly ill young children) and they don’t give a shit. It’s more important to live in the city centre or aerodrom and “be urban” than to have a healthy child and have them mingling with peasants (literal quote).

You are absolutely on point with this statement and you would be surprised how many people here are ignorant about these things. What good is a country that has absolutely nothing to offer, no opportunities, no future, no hope but corruption and pollution? The situation here will also sadly never change due to the general stubborn and passive mentality of our people, who would rather adapt even to the worst of conditions than unite and challenge the system. I personally would rather adopt than have my own children, but when I do, I would really want to help them get a chance in life, so getting them out of Macedonia will be the first thing I do.

I’ve gone down the rabbit hole thinking about this, and you have all the right to question people’s sanity for bringing children into this rotten society. If you haven’t had an existential crisis and you wanna spice up your life, you can really get yourself riled up with this topic. Nobody’s got any rational working brain cells anymore to stop and think about this situation, they only pay attention (read: panic followed by disassociation) in those 4 months of the year when it’s critical. Afterwards, it’s like everybody forgets what’s gonna happen after the summer days. They go along with their lives as if they can detox all the crap in 7 days on the beach in Greece. But yes, bringing kids into this shithole to suffer is a crime against not just humanity but against the natural laws of evolution. I know what you mean
