Rolls-Royce shares climbed 4% higher after the aerospace engine maker was included in the US-UK trade deal.

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said he has “allowed Rolls-Royce engines and plane parts to come over tariff-free”.

US President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister announced some headline details about the framework of a trade deal, which the two countries agreed this week.

Starmer said the US-UK trade will boost trade and create jobs, calling the agreement “a fantastic platform” and “hugely important” for the automotive and steel industries in the UK.

Trump said the UK trade deal is “good for both countries” and will bring the UK back into “economic security alignment” with the US.

The US and UK have agreed to “work together on steel”, he said, with the deal increasing access for US beef and ethanol.

The UK will eliminate non-tariff trade barriers, he says, with US goods to “move fast” through customs.

Final details of the deal are being written up in the coming weeks, he said.

Rollys Royce has been an incredible British success, this is exactly the kind of high technology manufacturing we need to promote.

  3. Making jet engines is very difficult. Rolls Royce makes the engines for both Boeing and Airbus.

    The Americans need the tech.

Thank fuck for that. Huge Modular reactors order next please.

I switched away from US investments to European defence stocks post Trump inauguration and I’m kind of fuming I invested mostly into RR (which to be fair has risen 20%) while I watched my much more modest investment in Rheinmetall explode by another 74%

They’ve probably just realised that they’ve started to use Rolls Royce engines on the B52.

Great news for the uk – they’ve got factories all over the uk. hopefully boeing are more likely to put these on their planes

  7. Corporate aid for the tariffs whilst working class will be left with further jumps in cost of living. Wonderful.

  8. Finally got on the RR bandwagon yesterday on the basis of the SMR tender. Nice little bonus!

Not surprised as Boeing need Rolls Royce for both Civil and Military planes.

Currently all the major players in Civil Aviation Engines, CFM, Pratt and Whitney, Rolls Royce, GE are at max capacity.

Building Modern Civil Aviation Jet Engines isn’t easy, you can’t just “make more”.

To increase capacity takes years and hundreds of millions of pounds, it is why each company’s order book is full for years in advance.

Not only that but each company is having supply issues, the parts that are used are built to very high tolerances using specialist materials such as nickel-based superalloys, titanium alloys and advanced composite materials like carbon fiber.

The supply and construction line for modern civil jets is quite long and complex.

You remove any one company from the picture and all of sudden you have a very big problem for Manufacturers like Boeing because nobody else can just step in and fill the gap.

It’s great for Rolls Royce don’t get me wrong, but this has happened only because by not doing this would of hurt Boeing.

ROLLS ROYCE makes an excellent product. Their workers are very dedicated in both the UK and the United States.
