Its a norwegian forest-cat.
They are hairy. And fluffy.

Short answer, no. We have plenty of normal cats also!
In Norway there are little to no street cats. Cats have homes and owners that care for them and keep their coats clean and combed hence the fluffy look. They are also well fed healthy animals and tend to be larger in size than what you would see elsewhere.
Fluffier cat breeds and mixes are preferred due to the weather conditions but there are also a lot of short haired cats around who also look very well taken care of, you will notice their coats are shiny and that they are also larger than the average for their specific breed.
Our winters are that cold

Because if it wasn’t for that, you wouldn’t have a reason to ask about our cats 😛
