For information, Eris (Block 1) is Australia’s first orbital rocket. It has three stages (the first 2 use solid fuel and liquid oxidizer) and a total length of 25 meters. It can carry ~300 kg of payload to LEO. The Block 2 version will be able to carry 1 ton of payload to LEO, and is expected to fly in 2026. Another version is under development, the Eris Heavy (although it will be a medium lifter, not a heavy lifter) and will be able to carry 4 tons of cargo to LEO.

As an Australian I’m hoping the best for them! Hopefully one day I’ll be able to go down and see a launch live.

  3. Fingers crossed it goes well for them of course. Still, for the first launch of an untried system, by a company just starting out I’m assuming they’d have to be holding their face’s just right for it to go off without a hitch.
