  1. It didn’t take them long to show what they are really about. Kent has a population of 1.5 million, I am sure there are more pressing issues amongst that amount of people than what flags are flying on the council building.

But who the fuck knows in this day and age, maybe this is genuinely the thing that bothers some people most.

  2. Reform aren’t going to be very subtle over the next few years. Too stupid to even try.

If a Ukrainian flag flying in Kent County Council bothers you then I’d suggest you aren’t a serious politician or voter.

As a resident of Ukraine, I can only thank the sane British for their support. Life is an unpredictable thing. Today you help us, and tomorrow you may need our help.
I wear a Union Jack bracelet as a sign of admiration for the country that fought alone for 2 years of World War II.

  5. Aggressive-Gene-9663 on

If you are going to allow Ukraine then also allow flags of other countries which are currently invaded such as Palestine and Congo.

Reform are Russian puppets !! Farage has been a Putin asset since Brexit 🤢

  7. Longjumping_Stand889 on

Nationalism and flags, it’s really important to them. We get the SNP making rules up here, they basically amount to never flying the union jack unless they really really have to.

  8. After-Dentist-2480 on

Putin has given Farage his instructions.

Kent’s Reform UK council – only obeying orders.

Reform will fuck up so bad as soon they get any power. I just hope people wake up before we have to find out the hard way.

If theres enough flagpoles, I dont really see any issue with waving a flag of any variety.

If they were building new flagpoles to fly different flags constantly, sure, maybe a waste of money, but it doesnt really bother me to sort of raise a “guest” flag or something to signify an occasion or something, providing you can get hold of one easily.

This whole thing is just a really baffling discourse. I’m not sure how its become an issue

Months ahead of an election, a populist party does some market testing to figure out what people hate and then pick from the spectrum of hate aimed at anything the party happens to hate (Farage has a Venn diagram to illustrate this, I imagine) to build their platform.

  12. Prior_Pear9873 on

It’s because walking past a council office and seeing what flags are flying outside is the closest anyone from Reform UK has come to bothering to find out what councils do

Who does this flag hurt? Even Putin is not going to care that KCC are flying this flag, so it is not like you are going to be in his good books by taking it down. It is all performative nonsense for their far right supporters who probably think Putin is right to invade Ukraine.

  14. Yes because my inability to earn enough to house myself, feed myself, keep myself warm, bathe myself, live independently as a tax payer, is all hinging on whether or not people sport a Ukrainian flag.

With all the issues this country faces, with all the ‘solutions’ Reform claim to have proposed to ‘fix’ the country, and they deem this one of their priorities? I’d like to say this exposes their nonsense to their voter base, but I don’t think it will.

I hope come next election people will actually research what they say instead of doing what the states did and blindly vote for someone just because one of policy. Reform won’t help the working class for a start. Lee Anderson would have you eating water and potatoes and class it as a meal, because ya know he was up at 4 am cleaning roads with his tongue when he was a working man. They would all sell us down the river to make them selves a little richer. Especially Farage.

  17. Kent also being europes largest lorry park as a result of brexit farage insisted on

  18. Daddy Vladdy will be cross if they didn’t.

Reform are clearly part of the Kremlin’s agitation programme. Pity millions of idiots hate brown people enough to not care at all that the people who want to nuke us are the primary sponsors of their messiah

  19. WhalingSmithers00 on

If I was part of a party that was accused of Russian collaboration, I don’t think my first move would be a pointless attempt to remove the flag of an invaded nations flag from a county council.

As a reform voter do you ask are these Russian assets or just thick as shit?

  20. How are flags this important?

The economy is damaged due to being outside the single market and not having a customs union with the EU.

There’s a citizens rights disaster with the end of FoM

And the NHS is on its knees.

But these lot are worried about flags.

  21. captainklenzendorfer on

I support Ukraine but honestly there should be no flags but British flags in government and assembly buildings. No LGBT, no Palestine, no Ukraine, no Israel, none of that. Just the Union Jack and regional flags

  22. SomebodyStoleTheCake on

There are entire families who can’t afford to buy food for their children all over this country can we please stop focusing on this inconsequential bullshit. From fearmongering about transgender people to now childish little whine-fests about flags, just PISS OFF WITH THE CULTURE WAR SHIT. OUR PEOPLE DON’T HAVE ANY MONEY!!!

  23. PatrickTheSosij on

I don’t get it. Reform must know that the people who vote for them are not russian fans

  24. People voting Reform are inviting Putin into Europe, and within that, into the British government deciding the laws and freedoms of the British people.

  25. Nah, but they’re totally not Russian assets, guys, what ya talkiiinnng abooouuut…

  26. Reform is desperate to import US culture wars, but they’ve really missed the mark on this one; while the US might buy the whole ‘why should we pay for other people’s wars’ line, European countries, in general, aren’t inclined to stand by idly and watch while a dictator invades a nearby country. Funny, that.

From what I’ve seen the UK seems pretty steadfast in their support for Ukraine, even in the Reform crowd.

  27. MariusBerger832 on

The ONLY flags British public offices should regularly display are UK or local regional ones.

  28. Haha looks like they have massively misjudged public feeling on this. Reform need to understand that the British public absolutely fucking hate Russia and them doing anything even slightly pro Russia is going to cost them a bunch of votes

  29. lmao I hope they keep fumbling their support by leaning into this anti-Ukraine stuff. For all its faults, our electorate is quite sympathetic to Ukraine even well into the conservative ranks. Masturbatory it may be sometimes, the British national mythos basically makes a society that’s vigilant against invasions in Europe.

  30. untruth-social-6666 on

The Reform PR machine is a gift that keeps on giving.

I question my fellow British people who have voted for these morons.

  31. Worldly_Let6134 on

Further adding proof if it was needed, that Farage and his party are just puppets of Putin.

  32. Necessary-Product361 on

Some comments are reading like “i am from Kent oblast and support this”

  33. thebrowncanary on

I support Ukraine but flying a foreign state’s flag over local government buildings is inappropriate.
