    1. My dad went for a PIP test. They didn’t tell him you had to press a button to get through to the offices were the test was and let him try and work it out for himself (another person there saw his white stick and helped him out). The tester said “can you do this?” And then performed some action and my dad had to keep saying probably but you need to say what it is out loud ( he has very limited vision so if he was looking at you he would be able to see an eye). He felt like they were trying to trick him. He fell over when he got there because he’d checked there were no steps to get to it but there were.

I started reading the book ‘health communism’ today and it does a great job in describing the nature of the welfare system and the treatment you feel as a disabled or ill person.

Capitalism tells us the welfare system would work perfectly if it wasn’t for the bad actors, cheats and liars who abuse it. That’s wrong. The welfare system asks to prove and prove again that you are deserving of what is ultimately, a poor amount of money to live on. Its fucked.

I appreciate that Endometriosis UK also interjected into this article. This is after all, a young people disease and proves that young people are not automatically healthier then older people.

Yeah. My dad has cancer. Started as oral cancer, spread to his lymph nodes, now in his lungs. He has a plethora of other illnesses too. Diabetes, problems with his pancreas, liver and kidneys. He’s hardly mobile at all. He was denied PIP on his first claim, he had to appeal it with help from CA to get approved.

Meanwhile heroin addicts I know have been on disability benefits for decades now. Fuck knows how they manage it.

I will say one thing. Apply for a tribunal, 90% of decisions also get reversed providing you turn up, they won’t send anyone.

    7. PIP is completely dependent on who picks up your case. It’s pretty disgusting. I’m blind, 5% vision left but still want to be pretty independent. I’ll walk slowly but still havent accepted that I need a cane and I also refused a guide dog as I felt it would be better for someone else. I work from home so I thought it would be pretty unfair on the dog too and my family are very supportive when I need to go out.

I was denied my application at first due to how “mobile” I was and had to ask my doctor to contact them. Then they ask you a whole bunch of questions and “test” you.

You literally have the specialists doctors letter where they test me intensively in a specialist lab (Moorfields Eye Hospital in London) Why do I need you to see me walk up and down the stairs by myself?

The second person who was dealing with my case was empathetic and it was finally approved.

So I can imagine how terrible it is for people who may have disabilities that you don’t see.

you gotta love it when an uber rich man makes decisions for those living on what he pays for a pair of shoes.

What do you mean you aren’t fit for work? Rishi needs a door stop, you could just lie there for one pound an hour since the conservatives thing you should work for less if disabled
